Building financially smart MSCW students of the future!
Our friends from Talk Money recently delivered a financial workshop for our Year 8 students. The program is aimed at equipping young Australians with fundamental money management skills for their lifetime.
Our Year 8 students really got stuck into some big ideas about money. They learnt about how their daily choices actually impact their savings and spending, and they picked up some neat tricks to make sure their money goes towards what they really care about. Plus, students gained skills to deal with social and advertising pressure that often try to persuade their spending habits. Most importantly, they learned how to set achievable money goals and even build solid savings plans to reach them – which felt pretty empowering!
According to feedback from students alongside members of the Maths Department, there is overwhelming agreement on the importance of this initiative in enhancing financial self-sufficiency and confidence.
We are incredibly proud of our Year 8 students for embracing this valuable learning opportunity, setting them on a path towards informed financial decision-making.
