Foundress Day

30 June commemorates the feast day of our Foundress Jeanne-Marie Chavion. To honour this sacred day, the College celebrated Foundress Day; an annual celebration of our Marist faith, sisterhood and love. In doing this, the College attended mass at St Mary’s Cathedral, concluding with a leadership handover ceremony. Once returned back at school we travelled to different areas around our beautiful school area of Woolwich. Marcellin and Chavion travelled to Clarke’s Point, Colin and Jaricot to the Horse’s Paddock, and Chanel and Perroton to Weil Park. Students mingled and conversed with peers in their tutor groups while sharing a ‘Blue and White’ picnic. The students were encouraged to bring picnic blankets, food and decorations in the colours of blue and white, to symbolise the presence of Mary in our College community and remind us of the divinity and love she carried. Students also participated in house competitions, such as capture the flag, relays, and dodgeball, filling the day with some healthy competition. Foundress Day gave students the opportunity to grow stronger connections with their sisters, developing a bond that will foster “Sisters for Life”. It was a delightful day for the College and a great way to end our leadership journey and welcome the new student leaders for 2023-2024.
