Year 10 Dance Industry Day 

I’m excited to share the highlights of the Year 10 Dance Industry Incursion that took place on Wednesday of Week 7.

Students were thrilled to have renowned guest artist Millie Slennett with us. With her experience at Broadway Dance Center NYC and LOcREaDO Dance Company, Millie conducted an inspiring commercial dance workshop and Q&A on what it is like to work in the Dance Industry. It was a unique opportunity for our students to learn from one of the industry’s best, enhancing their technical and performance skills. 

After the workshop, students participated in a professional portfolio photoshoot. As part of their Commercial Dance unit learning tasks, students are required to present a professional portfolio, show reel, and take part in a mock audition. This photoshoot was a valuable step in capturing each student’s unique presence as a dancer.

I’m so proud of our Year 10 students for embracing this enriching experience.

Year 12 Dance Practical Trials 

Congratulations to Isabella Talarico and Isabella Allsopp in completing their HSC Dance Practical Trials on Wednesday the 19 June. 

Students performed with passion and dedication, presenting their three practical components to external markers. This was a valuable opportunity to gain further feedback as the dancers approach their practical marking period in Week 4 and 5 of Term 3. A thank you to the junior Core Composition Dancers Amelia Marteau, Yearr 9 and Jasmine Haddad, Year 8. Their hardwork and dedication has aided the Year 12 students greatly in the composition process. 

I warmly welcome the College community to the HSC Dance Performance Evening on 24 July in the College Theatrette. 

We wish the Year 12 students all the best in the final preparations for their practical exams.
