Career Expo and Open Day season

Each year most institutions hold open days for prospective students during the months of June through to September. These events are ideal for students in Years 10 – 12 who wish to gain more specific information about course offerings and the institution itself. Many institutions prefer you to register your interest prior to attending. This allows the organisation to provide you with updates, an Open Day program and general information. Below is a list of published dates for upcoming expos and open days.

Expos

Sydney Careers & Employment Expo 2024  August 16 to August 17, 2024

Hordern Pavilion, Moore Park. The Expo will showcase over 120 organisations and employers with career opportunities for all ages. Entry is free. Find out more

Western Sydney Careers Expo 2024  Saturday June 29, 2024

Over 80 exhibitors including universities, TAFE colleges and training providers.  Chat personally to providers about apprenticeships, cadetship opportunities, international exchange and GAP year programs.

Open Days and Online Information sessions for Tertiary institutions

Open Days provides a chance for you to find out everything you need to know about studying at a tertiary institution before you enrol. You’ll be able to check out the campus, meet staff and students, discuss entry pathways, and talk to experts about your study options and career goals.

Competitions

Acknowledgement of Country Poster Competition 2024

Opens: May 27, 2024

Closes: August 2, 2024

Find out the Indigenous language of your local area, and then work with your local Indigenous community to translate an Acknowledgement of Country into that language. Finally, use your visual art skills to create an eye-catching poster featuring the translated Acknowledgement of Country. In your poster, please use imagery that reflects your local area. For example, don’t include a picture of Uluru if your school is in Canberra.

The Royal Geographical Society invites you to create your own #ChooseGeography poster to promote the value of choosing geography at school, in further study and in the workplace, linking geographical skills to real people and jobs that make a difference. We are looking for eye catching, creative and informative posters that promote geography as an excellent choice, highlighting its relevance and demonstrating how studying geography can help you understand the world we live in and the ‘big issues’ that we face as a society.
