She Can. She Will. – Theme Launch 2019

Just before the end of last year, the 2019 student leadership team gathered for our formation day. Together we learnt the importance of being an authentic servant leader, explored how we could model Jesus’ values as a leader, and worked together to establish the College theme for 2019. The leaders wanted a theme that could resonate with the core values of our College. Working together, striving for greatness and following in Mary MacKillop’s footsteps of seeing a need and doing something about it.

It was important to us that the theme for 2019 expressed the values we are taught within this College and that the theme was able to inspire greatness from each student here at Mary MacKillop Catholic College. For these reasons we choose the theme “She can. She will.” This theme will be a daily reminder to all the students of their ability to succeed at whatever “She” sets her mind to and that “She will” achieve greatness.

The student leadership team wanted a theme that would encourage us as women to push our own boundaries, fight stereotypes and overcome any adversity that may come our way. We, as young women, have been taught to strive for greatness, to be people of service and to always believe in ourselves. We have been taught to live life with a growth mindset, to understand that our abilities, qualities and skills grow throughout our academic lives, to face challenges and obstacles no matter the outcome, and to always show compassion, just like Mary MacKillop. Because she could, and she did.

And in following in the footsteps of Mary MacKillop, our theme for 2019 shows us the we are all made for greatness and that as a team we can all encourage and motivate one another; that as young women, we can help empower ourselves and others; that we can remind ourselves, “She can. She will.”.
