Curriculum Update

Dear Members of the Mary MacKillop Catholic College Community

It has been a very busy start to the year regarding Curriculum. I have included links to documents (where relevant in the information below)

Term 1 saw a swift beginning to the year:

  • 2019 Assessment Handbooks were issued, these handbooks have critical information in them regarding rules around assessment and assessment grids (which include tasks and their approximate due date, as well as syllabus outcomes and the weighting assigned to each task). These are available under the Achieve tab on the College website
  • Year 11 students attended the Assessment Information evening which assisted their transition with the differences in Stage 6 assessment
  • Year 7 and 9 students completed their online practice for the upcoming NAPLAN tests
  • I have spoken to both Year 9 and 10 students about subject selection for Years 11 and 12
  • Assessment tasks were well under way

Term 2 as always shapes as an action packed term:

  • All year groups will receive via Compass, their reports at varying stages this term. These reports will reflect student learning in Semester 1. You will be notified via Compass when the reports are ready
  • Year 10 students have begun their subject selection journey for 2020. There is an information evening on the 26th June which is compulsory
  • Year 7 and 9 students will undertake NAPLAN Online on the 14th and 15th May. This year, for the first time, all papers will be attempted electronically. This should see a faster turnaround time with the results
  • Stage 6 (Years 11 and 12) Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews will occur on Tuesday 28th May (bookings are available via Compass). We look forward to sharing your daughter’s educational journey with as many of you as possible
  • Stage 4 and 5 (Years 7 – 10) Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews will occur on Thursday evening 5th July and Friday 6th July. There will be more information shortly. We look forward to sharing your daughter’s educational journey with as many of you as possible
  • Staff, students and parents will undertake the annual Tell Them From Me Survey (TTFM) to assist the College in evaluating its policies, practices etc. More information will follow shortly
  • Round 1 of the 2019 National Minimum Standards will occur

If ever you have a question at all concerning your daughter’s learning, please feel free to contact me.
