Celebrating Year 9 service

On Friday, some Year 9 students travelled to Ashfield to volunteer at the Exodus Foundation Loaves and Fishes Free Restaurant. Their reflections from the day are included below:

‘I thoroughly enjoyed working with other peers to serve the homeless community. It was an amazing experience, and everyone loved it so much that we would love to volunteer there regularly. It taught me more about the people in need and made me reflect on how fortunate I am. I really loved hearing from the homeless people and making smiles appear on their faces. It was a truly memorable experience that I will remember for the rest of my life’
– Anneka Bigg (Year 9)

I would also like to acknowledge Melisande Pitman, who has been nominated for the Young Volunteer of the Year – Mid Western Sydney Region for her work with Kids Giving Back and Helping Hands for the Homeless in Paddington. Congratulations to Melisande for living the MLC School Value of Compassion!

Exchange Opportunity

This week, Year 9 received a briefing from Sarah Jauncey,  Director of Experiential Learning, about an exciting opportunity for a reciprocal exchange with a female student from Bridge House School in Franshoek, South Africa.

The exchange will take place for six weeks. The MLC School student will travel to South Africa in July 2026 and the Bridge House School student will travel to Australia in November 2026.

A student exchange program complements a student’s formal education in important and exciting ways. Experiences at school, both in students’ academic and co-curricular lives provide the opportunities that will assist them to be global citizens. Living in a home with a local host family gives students the opportunity to become immersed in the culture of both the school and country. This allows students to see beyond their own world and have real life experiences to become an agent of change.

More details about the exchange program can be found here.

Summer uniform

Finally, a reminder that students will be required to wear full Summer uniform in Term 4. Many students have experienced growth spurts over the winter months, so please ensure dress lengths are checked and adjusted over the holidays to ensure they sit at knee level.

Term 4 will commence on Tuesday 14 October 2025. We look forward to another productive and engaging term ahead, and wish you a restful break.
