Year 9

Welcome (to those families who have recently joined MLC School) and welcome back to Term 4!

I trust that you all were able to enjoy some rest and rejuvenation with your families and friends over the past few weeks. I know I say it each term, but it was particularly exciting to welcome all of Year 9 back to school this term and to see them all proudly, neatly and happily wearing their Senior uniform. It made me feel very gratified indeed to see the wonderful young people this cohort are growing into. Term 4 is often one with a sprinkle of chaos amongst a whole cake full of fun, so let’s do this!

Below you will find a few updates and dates for the diary for the coming weeks:

This term our Luminary sessions, an important time for the cohort, will be focused on the value of Growth. This focus will allow students to reflect on their development across the year and to look ahead to what opportunities for further academic, social, and personal growth lay ahead. The MLC School Learning Disposition of self-awareness will also be in focus as the cohort begin to respond to increased autonomy and independence.

This week we welcomed Renee Willemsen to the Year 9 Luminary team. Renee will be continuing her role as a Leawarra Luminary after her hard work and wonderful support of Year 12, 2023. Welcome Renee!

Students in Years 7 – 9 are to leave their mobile phones in their lockers during the day. Please refrain from contacting your daughter when she is at school. If you need to contact your daughter for an urgent matter, please contact the Studies Office or School’s Reception and the message will be conveyed.

As always, there are several key dates to be aware of this term, as outlined below:

Monday 6 November 2023 (Week 4) – Academic rollover
Tuesday 7 November 2023 (Week 5) – Year 7 to Year 10 Parent Teacher Interviews
Wednesday 6 December 2023 (Week 9) – Final day of lessons for Term 4
Thursday 7 December 2023 (Week 9) – MLC School Senior Speech Night (ICC, Sydney)
