Year 8 students learn more about Year 9 2024 PASS

Year 8 students are eagerly anticipating the selection of their Year 9 electives and this week in Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) lessons, students engaged in a range of activities to give them a taste of what the Physical Activity and Sports Studies (PASS) subject entails.

Students used Garmin watches to learn how to track their heart rate, explored the human body using the Virtuali-tee app that works in conjunction with an augmented reality t-shirt to bring learning to life, and took a look inside various body systems with the Meta Quest 2 all-in-one VR headset. PASS is two-year course where students learn about concepts and topics related to body systems, how to promote and engage in active lifestyles, the different types of training and energy systems required to be successful in various sports, participating with safety (culminating in a three-day skiing trip) and the importance of nutrition to performance, health and physical activity.

If you have any questions about the elective, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
