Year 8

Year 8

At this time of the term, most students have many assessments. Unsurprisingly, this can be a source of anxiety and stress for many young people. I am aware that the pressure can sometimes feel overwhelming, even for students who are typically resilient and organised.

It is important to remember that every student reacts differently to stress. Some may openly communicate their worries, while others may keep their feelings hidden, trying to manage the pressure alone. This is why your check-ins and support are so crucial. I encourage all parents to find a quiet moment to speak with your child this week. Ask them how they are managing their workload, whether they are feeling confident about their upcoming assessments, and if there is anything that is causing them concern.

If your child is not coping or needs extra support, please don’t hesitate to reach out. The pastoral care team, Luminaries and classroom teachers are all available to assist. Whether it’s helping with time management strategies, finding balance with co-curricular commitments, or providing more specialised wellbeing support, we are here to help every student through this busy period.

Nominations are now open for the Student Representative Council (SRC) for Year 8 students. The SRC plays an important role in representing student voices, organising school-wide initiatives, and leading by example. If your child is passionate about making a difference, enjoys teamwork, and is interested in developing their leadership abilities, I strongly encourage them to consider putting their name forward. Please note that nominations for SRC will close on Friday 5 September 2025.

At the time of writing, our School is in the midst of preparing for the Senior School House Athletics Carnival. This event is one of the highlights of the year, offering students the chance to compete, cheer each other on, and contribute to their House teams. I will provide photos and updates about the carnival next week.

Have a great weekend.
