Year 7
On Friday last week we were thrilled to welcome Rosemary Mula (grandmother of Victoria Lacchia-Schmidt) to our Year Meeting. Rosemary shared her experiences of service to others by talking through her experiences of volunteering at a range of Olympic Games and for a collection of Olympic teams. She talked of her wonderful experience as an attaché for the Kiribati team, even walking with them at the Opening Ceremony at Athens. I would like to thank Rosemary for sharing her time and insights with us. It so wonderful to hear about the interesting experiences that Rosemary has had the benefits and joy that come from sharing your time, experience, and energy with others. Thank you, Rosemary, for spending time with Year 7 as well as the lovely gifts all the way from Malta!
Week 6 saw students starting to plan out and some even film elements of their Rubbish Project in small groups as a part of their Academic Care program. Students were provided with resources created by Marianna Carlino (Director of eLearning) to support their filming, with tips and tricks about lighting and camera angles. Some groups also experimented with their filming, using the school iPads to piece together moments of action.
In the coming couple of weeks Year 7 will complete the remainder of their summative assessments for the term. With this in mind, we spent Luminary on Monday again focusing on organisation, time management and some dedicated time to ready themselves for the weeks ahead. Students have responded well to having access to a range of resources to aid in their planning ahead of tasks.
