Year 12 IB Biology – Ecology Excursion

Last Thursday our Year 12 IB Biology students were super busy during their Ecology excursion. The girls headed to Long Reef in Collaroy early in the morning and spent the day learning how an Ecology field study works. They were using quadrats to count snails, starfishes, sea anemones and many other organisms to see how their abundance changes depending on temperature and salinity of water. Who said that Science is only done in a lab?! Our IB students had an awesome time and learnt that collecting data on the field is a major part of Ecology studies.
