Year 11 Legal Studies 2: 100% Test

Year 11 Legal Studies 2: 100% Test

With the students returning from the Easter school holidays and everyone feeling refreshed and energised, it was a good time to check in with everyone’s study notes as we get close to the halfway mark of Year 11. The students had been given notice that the Easter school holidays was a good time for them to review and consolidate their study notes to ensure they stay on-track with the content heavy course.

Rather than simply having the students display their notes to me for reviewing I setup a 100% test. The 100% test involves the students answering 15 questions using their notes that cover a range of content from the syllabus dot points however the whole class needs to find the correct answer. They are able to compare their notes and discuss the questions, they are not able to use the internet or the teacher, even the running of the test was capably led by Seraphine she said, “I have a new appreciation for how challenging it can be to keep everyone focused on task.”

This task assists students with collaborating to share their knowledge and understanding. Collaboration and leveraging social networks is beneficial for students to reduce the stress of engaging with a range of complex topics. The students were able to successfully complete all of the questions correctly as a class reinforcing each others knowledge and at times deepening understanding. Amelia reflected, “sometimes I can figure out the answer in multiple choice questions by eliminating the incorrect one but being able to ask others why the correct answer is correct has helped my understanding of this point.”
