Year 11

Year 11

The past week has been a vibrant and inspiring one on the Year 11 calendar.

On Friday 12 September, we proudly welcomed our 2026 Leadership Team. The whole of Year 11 is already demonstrating the qualities of inclusive, joyful, and courageous leadership, and we couldn’t be prouder of the way the new Captains are stepping into their roles. For more on this special moment, please see Principal Lisa Moloney’s newsletter article from last week.

That same evening, our Year 11 HSC Drama students took to the stage with their performance of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. Their talent, creativity and commitment were on full display, and it was a joy to witness their work.

The weekend continued with the Dance Showcase on Saturday 13 September and Sunday 14 September afternoon. I attended Saturday’s performance and was blown away by the energy, skill and passion of our dancers. Many of these students then went on to perform in Wakakirri, on Monday 15 September where they have now received a National nomination – an incredible achievement and testament to their dedication.

We are so excited to see what these talented young people will bring to the stage and to our community in the year ahead.

We farewelled Year 12 this week, and it has brought a mix of emotions – especially for our Year 11 students who are saying goodbye to friends they often see as big sisters. Time is moving quickly, as Marirose Giann, our 2025 School Captain, reminded the whole School during the Final Year 12 Assembly on Wednesday 17 September.

As we look ahead, we’re all trying to make the most of the time we have left with this remarkable cohort. We hope the months ahead will be filled with joy, challenge, community, and meaningful preparation for the future beyond school.

Learning Enhancement: Disability Provisions Applications

MLC School, supports students through the collaborative meeting process which involves parents, students, and relevant practitioners to discuss tailored NESA disability provisions. These supports are reviewed regularly to ensure equity across student cohorts using teacher feedback and stakeholder input. IB candidates follow a similar process for access arrangements and should ensure the IB Coordinator is aware of their intention to apply for provisions.

If you have specific questions or wish to discuss a particular circumstance, please contact led@mlcsyd.nsw.edu.au
