Year 10
Welcome to the last two weeks of term – Week 9 has been busy with cadet camp preparation; co-curricular finals and the end of term wrap up of activities. Congratulations to our Year 10 Tildesley Tennis representatives: Liesl Wong and Harlow Elsibai for their participation in IGSA Tennis last week. Read the Tildesley article here. Our DDE students are continuing to work hard on their preparation for the performance in Paris during the DDE tour later this year. The Rowing season ended last week, and Niamh Canadas will be in the Water Polo finals against St Catherine’s on Saturday.
In year meeting this week, the girls started their Careers Action Plan. Jo Cilia, Head of Futures and Pathways, presented to Year 10 and Nicole Massara, Futures and Pathways, created a great new resource for the senior girls that has all their career information in the one place. There is information on work experience, pathways for VET and university entry and subject prerequisites – all helpful tools for Year 10 to plan their subject choices next term. Please ask your daughters to show you the resource on Canvas, it’s brilliant.
Friendship was the theme of our activities in Luminary this week. Discussions were held in Luminary groups around friendship and managing change – how and why relationships change over time and recognising the differences between healthy and unhealthy friendships. Part of the discussion was about things we can and can’t control, setting boundaries, self-respect and self-awareness. To sum up, we asked the girls who they could turn to problem solve friendship concerns – family, teachers and their Luminary, as adults who have the life experience to listen and support. Stressful times such as assessment periods and change can place a strain on relationships at school and at home, so managing stress with good sleep, diet, exercise and balance is key.
We’re looking forward to the last week of term and have some great activities planned.
If you are concerned about an academic issue, please contact your daughter’s class teacher. For pastoral and wellbeing issues, please reach out to your daughter’s Luminary or me on 02 8741 9736 and sconnolly1@mlcsys.nsw.edu. I am available for meetings on site and on Teams, Monday to Friday.
