Year 10
On Tuesday morning, the Year 10 chapel service was held in our beautiful chapel. Reverend Sally Yabsley-Bell conducted the service with the liturgy run by the Leawarra Luminary group. Leawarra’s Luminary is Joseph Pfeffer and they did an excellent job. The theme of service aligned with the School value being explored in Luminary: Courage. Rev Sally’s message to Year 10 reflected on the changes coming up for Year 10 and to look for courage to accept new ideas and experiences. Here is an excerpt of Rev Sally’s prayer for Year 10.
‘Help us to be brave and fill us with courage. Let us see ways to grow in confidence. Let us be courageous in stepping up to new challenges. Help us as we experience a new style of assessment schedule and prepare us for our trip to New Zealand. Year 10 holds some very special new opportunities for us, so please help us to not be overwhelmed by them, rather help us to know we are well-supported and lead us to be resilient as we try new experiences. Let this cohort be strong and uplifting toward each other. May we truly live as Daughters of the Light’.
The assessment block for Year 10 is in Week 8 (Monday 4 September 2023). Year 10 will be at school for the whole week, attending assessments and study sessions that are supervised at school. Students are expected at school from 8.15am to 3.15pm, as per their usual timetable. Year 10 are expected to be on site at school for the whole time. This is a change from previous years and will best support Year 10 with access to their teachers and a structured environment for revision. We hope that this schedule will help Year 10 to use their time effectively during the day and provide time after school for family time, rest, exercise, co-curricular activities and most importantly, a good sleep routine.
