Sporting Achievements

Last week, nine of our Senior students travelled to Tasmania to compete in the Australian Rowing Championships. Across four days of racing, the team battled strong winds and challenging conditions, yet their determination and positive spirit never wavered.

Our School Girl Doubles crews – Jemima Blake (Year 11) and Nicola Keast (Year 11), Ella Hu (Year 12) and Clementine Hendriks (Year 12) – raced strongly in their heats, placing 5th and 4th respectively. Later in the regatta, Jemima and Nicola went on to win the C Final, while Ella and Clementine secured 7th place in the B Final.

On Friday, our School Girl Quad of Sophie Winnall (Year 12), Eve Parker (Year 12), Rebecca Beaton (Year 12), Eliza Kershaw McDonald (Year 12) and Alannah Ng (Year 8) won their heat, progressing confidently into Saturday’s semi‑final where they placed 3rd, earning a well‑deserved spot in Sunday’s A Final. The crew finished 7th in the country – an outstanding achievement at this level of competition.

The entire coaching team are incredibly proud of the students who represented MLC School in Tasmania. Each student carried themselves with maturity, resilience and sportsmanship throughout the event, and they should be very proud of their efforts. Congratulations!

Touch Football

A great week out for MLC School Touch Football. Across 7 teams, we made one Grand Final and three Play-off games. I am proud to say that all four of these games finished with MLC on top! 4 out of 4 wins on a cold, yet sunny Saturday was a fantastic way to finish the term, so a huge congratulations to all involved in the program. We say a warm goodbye to our year 12s, who for them, it was their last ever term of MLC Touch, thank you for your commitment and passion, despite the pressure of exams. Everyone else, we’ll see you back on the pitch in term 4!

The biggest well-done of all however, to MLC03 – Coached by their fearless leader: Sam Harianto. They went away to Monte at 8am on the other side of the world (Macquarie Uni) and were clinical in a 3-1 win to bring home the premiership!
