Senior Wakakirri Story Dance National Nomination 2024
Following a successful and emotional performance at the NSW Awards Night on Tuesday 17 September, I am beyond thrilled to announce that our Senior Wakakirri Team has progressed to the National Secondary Division of the Story Dance Competition for 2024. Results for the 2024 National competition will be revealed in Term 4, and we can’t wait to share the outcome.
This year’s MLC School entry, titled ‘Undark’ illuminated the historical plight of The Radium Girls of the 1920s, showcasing their courageous battle for justice against exploitative factory owners who profited from radium as a glamorous material for wristwatches. MLC School has received the following awards:
Human Rights Equality Story State Award
Storytelling Award for a Great Story
Storytelling Award for Story Construction and Clarity
Ensemble Award for Choreography
Ensemble Award for Dancing and Acting
Production Award for sets, props and costumes
“A highly entertaining and heroic performance. Congrats to all involved!”
Wayne Scott Kermond – Wakakirri Ambassador
This nomination for the Nationals is the culmination of hard work, dedication, and creativity. Congratulations to all our incredible dancers and the Entertainment Crew for their outstanding performance and representation of MLC School on stage. A heartfelt thank you to our co-curricular dance staff Kate Drady, Jessica Dyson, Miss Afamia, and Miss Vanessa for their unwavering support and inspiration.
We look forward to what lies ahead in the national competition!
