MLC School Excels Again at the Ryde Eisteddfod

CONGRATULATIONS to Yolanda Deng (Year 7) who achieved 2nd place at the Ryde Eisteddfod last weekend in the verse speaking category.  This was Yolanda’s first year participating in an Eisteddfod. We are so proud of her for her wonderful achievement and for being an excellent role model for MLC School.

“As I sat, watching my competitors compete one by one, I realised how close I was to stepping onto that stage and performing to an audience with only strangers and my parents. I felt my palms getting clammy, while my heart pounded against my chest, a sure sign that my nerves were acting up again. However, as soon as I stepped on that stage, it was almost as if my body was on auto-pilot. After a few lines, I heard my own voice rise in confidence as I spoke with so much certainty that I surprised myself. Of course, I was ecstatic when I found out that I placed second, but this experience has helped me learn a lot. I would have never had the courage to stand on that stage alone to perform last year, and this has only further boosted my confidence.”
