Junior School Public Speaking Competition Update
Ready, lights, action. Finally, a live public speaking event. After two years of COVID-19 restrictions the girls were finally able to perform in front of a live audience. Students in Year 3 to Year 5 competed in the House Public Speaking Competition. Every girl had the opportunity to present a speech. Eventually, one student from each House was selected to perform in the House Public Speaking final. Last week, 12 girls presented their speeches. Nervous participants waited their turn and then breathed deeply, took their position, and presented their speech. The two adjudicators, Chloe Jing (Debating and Public Captain for 2023) and Wayne Symes from the English Department, had a difficult time choosing the best presentation. Finally, the winners were announced.
Year 3
Winner: Zara Pandher (Leawarra)
Year 4
Winner: Mariette Karam (Booralee)
Year 5
Winner: Ariahna Giann (Booralee)

Year 6 also held their own Public Speaking Competition. Natalie Hird, Deputy Head of Junior School – Academic, had the unenviable job of judging the speakers. Congratulation to Sofia Tzouganatos (Year 6) for winning the Year 6 Public Speaking Competition.
Both Sofia and Ariahna will represent MLC School at the IPSHA Public Speaking Competition to be held next term.
