Junior School Collaborative Artwork – Every Heart Needs Art
This week, we unveiled our Junior School Collaborative Artwork – Every Heart Needs Art.
Each student in the Junior School from Pre-K to Year 5 created a beautiful mini artwork with a design unique to them. They represented themselves in their design with lines, shapes, patterns, symbols and images meaningful to them while focusing on the theme of ‘hearts’.
Our Junior School artists began by creating their design using their choice of oil pastels. Then they painted over the top with watercolours, creating a beautiful background. This technique is called watercolour resist because the watercolours resist the oil-based pastels.
The variety of designs and colours used by all girls in the Junior School has created a vivid and colourful collaborative artwork. This is a wonderful reflection of our school community – unique, vibrant and a delight to be a part of.
The message of our artwork, Every Heart Needs Art, highlights our collective love and appreciation for looking at and making art. Most importantly, art makes us happy!
