From the Principal

Throughout this year we are celebrating our anniversary of 140 years of excellence in girls’ education. As we close out Term 1, I would like to acknowledge MLC School’s exceptional teachers and support and operational staff (both current and past). Behind every improvement, new initiative, phone call, email, and assessment is an enormous amount of unseen work; much of it through the discretionary effort of our staff who are so committed to making MLC School the best that it can possibly be.

Already this year we have:

  • Completely reinvigorated our sports program
  • Founded the largest all girl cadet unit in Australia
  • Introduced a new, research-based approach to teacher professional learning
  • Undertaken our annual deep dive into academic performance of the Class of 2025 (always seeking to identify where further improvement can be found)
  • Introduced our Junior School academic advantage sessions for parents
  • Behind the scenes, we have become the first Australian independent school to implement Security Copilot to improve our IT security and data and information protection
  • Made further progress on our Capital improvement plans and
  • Are working closely with the P&F Executive and OGU to build further opportunities for community connection.

There is much to celebrate.

Thank you to those community members who have written, called or otherwise taken the time to acknowledge the ‘going above and beyond’ efforts of our staff and to those who have taken the time to attend our Information Sessions, Coffee with the Principal, Community Prayer Breakfast or P&F and OGU meetings and events. Along with incidental conversations with school leaders on the sporting sidelines or while attending the various co-curricular and out of hours activities, your attendance and input at these gatherings provide us with invaluable feedback and insights which are carefully considered and discussed.

Term 2 will provide further opportunities for community connection and education, including:
