Five MLC School Teams Compete in Archdale Grand Final
The Senior Centre was abuzz on Tuesday evening as 22 teams from 14 girls’ schools gathered to contest the Archdale Grand Finals. MLC School was represented by five teams: three in the Shield competition and two in the Invitational competition.
Although the seven preliminary rounds for the Invitational competition were conducted online, the Grand Final took place as a live event. The Junior Year 7 team delivered a commendable performance against an older Year 8 team from Frensham but were ultimately defeated in their final.

The Intermediate Year 10 team are seasoned Grand Final competitors who previously secured victory in the FED Year 10 division this June, achieved a strong win against PLC Sydney.

In the Shield competition, the 7B team participated in a closely contested debate but were narrowly beaten by Pymble.

Our Juniors team of Year 9 students, having previously won their FED competition division in June, faced Wenona in a close debate and unfortunately did not secure the win this time.

The 7A team proposed the affirmative side in a debate against Meriden on the topic, ‘That schools should not provide any awards for individual performance (eg: Most Improved, Most Valuable) in team sports (eg: netball, football, debating).’ In a closely judged contest, they achieved victory and contributed significantly to MLC School securing the overall Shield trophy.

Congratulations are extended to all 60 Archdale debaters and their coaches for an outstanding debating season. The competition year is not yet over, with 18 teams set to participate in the International Debating Championships (IDC) and additional online competitions against Australian and international teams scheduled for Term 4.
