Debating Coaches Attain Success at International Competition
The Debating and Public Speaking coaches at MLC School are instrumental in facilitating the achievements of our teams. Most coaches are distinguished university debaters who are committed to fostering continual improvement among students each week. This dedication was exemplified by Old Girl Jade di Girolamo (2022) and Angus MacGregor, who travelled to Guangzhou, China, in July to represent the University of Sydney at the Australasian University Debating Championships.
Both Jade and Angus were selected for the same team, participating in eight rounds and progressing to the partial quarter-finals. Their performance secured a fifth-place ranking overall out of 50 competing teams, reflecting a significant achievement. Additionally, Angus was named the 20th best speaker and Jade the 22nd best speaker out of 150 participants.
Our coaches exemplify the benefits that involvement in co-curricular activities can provide, demonstrating the array of opportunities available to students who choose to participate during their school years and continue their engagement into university.
