Year 7
This week, we asked Year 7 to reflect on their first term of Senior School and the things that helped them to feel connected to our school community.
Some highlights:
-
-
-
-
- Nearly all students said that they felt a sense of belonging at MLC School
- Spending time with their Year 11 Big Sisters and Year 10 Peers Support Mentors were the two activities that made Year 7 most connected to the MLC School community.
- Nearly all students said that they had a positive and supportive relationship with at least one staff member at MLC School
- Many students said they were proud of how they had made new friends, learnt to stay organised and complete their first assessment tasks, and trying their best.

I’d love to share with you some of the Year 7 reflections below about what they most enjoyed about the Luminary program this term:
- I have enjoyed meeting new people which made me feel like I have a place in this school and that I belong here
- I enjoyed meeting with my Year 11 Big Sister, who was really kind, encouraging and supportive.
- I have most enjoyed organising and completing activities with Year 10 Peer Support Mentors and my Year 11 Big Sister, as we get to interact and meet with people from different year groups as well as creating stronger connections throughout the school community
- I enjoyed activities in Luminary where we discussed how our week was going and when we shared our strategies for how to be organised and complete homework.
- I enjoyed activities such as creating the ‘hexagonal connections map’ with my Luminary as it helped me see the things I have in common with other students and make new friends and connections.
Heart Points
Last Friday, we also celebrated Year 7 students who were awarded 5 Heart Points this term for demonstrating our MLC School Values. Congratulations to the following Year 7 students Amy Hunter, Grace Ingram, Jesselle Jiao, Arielle McBrien, Emily Moore, Louise Morgant, Chelsea Shrestha and Kathy Zhang!
