Term 2 2026 Music Events

Term 2 is set to be a busy and exciting one for Music at MLC School. With a range of major performances, festivals and learning opportunities on the calendar, there is much for our students and wider music community to look forward to! 

ANZAC Day Dawn Service – Burwood RSL
Saturday 25 April 2026, 6am

The Music Department has been invited by the Burwood RSL to provide music for the ANZAC Day Dawn Service at Burwood Park. The service will be held at the War Memorial Arch, commencing at 6am on Saturday, 25 April 2026

Students from the Symphonic Wind Band and Chamber Choir are expected to attend, and any absence must be approved by the Director of Music prior to the event.

Chamber Choir students should note that a combined rehearsal with Symphonic Wind Band will take place at 3.30pm on Thursday 23 April 2026 in the Music Auditorium.

MLC School 140 Year Celebration Assembly
Friday 1 May 2026
On Friday 1 May 2026, the School will hold a whole-School Assembly for students in Year 3 to Year 12 on the Sports Field to celebration 140 Years of MLC School.
 
Students from Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Wind Band and Senior Choir are expected to perform the National Anthem and School Song at this assembly. Combined rehearsals may be scheduled during Week 1 and Week 2 of Term 2. Further details will be shared in the coming weeks.

 

Town Hall Concert – She Makes a Difference
Wednesday 24 June 2026

Our annual concert at Sydney Town Hall is well underway and is shaping up to be a very special event. Titled She Makes a Difference, the concert will celebrate 140 years of MLC School through music.

There will be opportunities for Old Girls to participate in the concert, either as part of the choral items or as instrumentalists. Those interested are invited to complete the Expression of Interest Form here. We are currently finalising repertoire and parts, which will be distributed shortly. 

Two Sunday rehearsals have been scheduled for current students and Old Girls participating in the concert, on Sunday 14 June and Sunday 21 June 2026. Further rehearsal details will be shared closer to the dates.

Please note that this compulsory for all Senior School Ensembles and Angeli Choir only. 

Big Band Blast 

Big Band Blast will take place from Friday 15 May to Sunday 17 May 2026 in Bathurst and involves students from the Stage Band and Jazz Ensemble. Families are asked to please note these dates in their calendars.

Further information, including travel arrangements, packing lists and itineraries, will be shared early next term.

Co‑Curricular Music Rehearsals 

Co‑curricular Music Ensemble rehearsals will resume in Week 1 of Term 2. Ensembles that rehearse on Mondays will recommence in Week 2
