Year 11

Year 11

This week, Melissa Boyd, Deputy Principal and Sarah Jauncey, Director of Experiential Learning, officially launched Sony Foundation Camp 2026 with Year 11. The Sony Foundation Camp is an absolute highlight of the MLC School calendar, and it is incredibly exciting that it is now the Year 11 girls’ opportunity to step into this meaningful and rewarding experience.

Sony Foundation Camp is a four-day, three-night camp held at Land’s Edge, Mosman, where Year 11 students support children with additional needs aged 7–15 years. Preparation begins well in advance, with training days scheduled for Monday 20 July and Sunday 11 October 2026, before the camp itself runs from Wednesday 9 to Saturday 12 December 2026, concluding with a special Chapel Service and Christmas celebration.

If your daughter is interested in being involved, they are encouraged to apply, with the selection process involving a written application, interviews, role allocation and rigorous training. Applications close on Thursday 2 April 2026 at 3.15pm (no exceptions), and I strongly encourage all Year 11 students to consider applying for this unique and deeply rewarding opportunity.

On Thursday, it was the Year 7 students’ turn to host Big Sister/Little Sister, and it was wonderful to see Year 11 students supporting them in running a wide range of activities, including Easter egg hunts, games and quizzes. These moments continue to strengthen connections across the School and highlight the positive leadership Year 11 demonstrates within our School community.

We also wish all our Year 11 Cadet students a wonderful experience as they embark on Cadet Camp next week. We look forward to hearing about their adventures and achievements when we return in Term 2.
