Art Competition

Independent Schools NSW is pleased to launch the World Teachers’ Day Student Art Competition 2026, inviting students from all Independent schools to create original artworks celebrating the remarkable work of teachers.

Teachers play a vital role in transforming our future. Through their work with students, they nurture curiosity, instil confidence and ignite a lifelong love of learning. Their dedication helps students uncover their unique strengths and prepares them for life beyond the classroom.

To recognise and celebrate this impact, students are invited to submit an original artwork that showcases the important role teachers play in their lives and communities. For World Teachers’ Day 2026, the competition theme is Transforming tomorrow, today.

Selected artworks will be featured as part of the 2026 World Teachers’ Day appreciation campaign, highlighting student voice and creativity across the Independent sector.

Prizes for the winning submissions have been generously donated by Eckersley’s Art & Craft.

  • Artworks must be original and created solely by the student submitting the entry.
  • Participants may use any artistic medium, including but not limited to painting, drawing, sculpture, digital art, mixed media, and collage
  • Submissions should be accompanied by a brief artist’s statement (maximum 100 words) explaining the inspiration behind the artwork.

Each school can submit a maximum of two entries, so the competition will initially be judged in school, with two finalists selected for submission to Independent Schools NSW.

Please hand entries to Ms Doull in the Junior School Art Studio by Friday 8 May 2026.
