Year 7
What a wonderful start to the year for Year 7! It has been a joy to see students engaging so enthusiastically in all the commencement activities, including Luminary time, Peer Support and The Journey incursion. I have been particularly impressed by the resilience Year 7 has shown as they navigated the campus for the first time – sometimes getting a little lost, but using their diaries, asking for help, and even offering support to others. Hearing, ‘I know the way, let me show you!’ echo through the lockers has been a real highlight.
As we know, transitioning into high school is both exciting and challenging. To help our students feel grounded and supported, Year 7 participated in a full‑day incursion, The Journey, intentionally designed to strengthen peer relationships, foster belonging and equip students with the social and emotional skills they need as they begin high school. Facilitated by Enlighten Education, this program is a key component of our orientation program and helps prepare students for the adventures and challenges of Year 7.
Through interactive, hands‑on activities, students explored strategies for stress management, building positive friendships, and the importance of including others. By the end of the day, many Year 7 students reported feeling more connected to their Luminary group, their peers and the broader school community, providing a strong foundation for the year ahead.
Staying organised for the week | Reading the Weekly News
Each week, I will post a Weekly News for students on their Year 7 Canvas page. This includes key events for the upcoming week, along with important reminders. I have encouraged all Year 7 students to make a habit of reading this on Sunday evening so they can be well prepared for the week ahead.
An example of what might be included in the Weekly News would be a reminder about school photos. We begin Week 2 with school photos on Monday 2 February 2026. Please remind your daughter to bring her blazer. A detailed schedule will be shared with Year 7 through their Weekly News. Sibling photos will take place on Wednesday 4 February 2026.
School Photos on Monday
It’s important students are in full School uniform for photos next week. Find out how to order and read more about this by clicking here.
Who to contact?
A reminder of some key contacts within the School:
Academic matters: Contact the class teacher first, then the Head of Department if needed.
Wellbeing or other concerns: Contact your daughter’s Luminary teacher, followed by myself if further support is required.
