PDHPE: Building Healthy Habits for Life

PDHPE: Building Healthy Habits for Life

A very warm welcome to the 2026 school year. We hope you and your family enjoyed a restful and refreshing break. The Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) Department is delighted to welcome two new staff members, Daniel Lomax and Natalie Smith, as Sarah Papachristoforou begins parental leave. As lessons commence, it has been wonderful to see smiles, energy, and laughter return to the field.

What to Expect in PDHPE This Term

Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) is a core learning area that plays a vital role in supporting students’ health, wellbeing and social development, while equipping them with the skills to make informed decisions and engage in lifelong participation in physical activity.

PDHPE combines both theory and practical learning experiences, Lessons are designed to cater for a wide range of abilities, encouraging students to challenge themselves within a supportive and inclusive environment. The subject also offers senior pathways, including HSC Health and Movement Science and IB Sports, Health and Exercise Science.

Uniform and Participation

To ensure safety and full engagement in practical lessons, students are expected to wear the correct MLC School PE uniform, including a hat and appropriate footwear. Sunscreen and a water bottle are strongly encouraged. Please note that bike shorts are not permitted.

If a student is unable to participate in a practical lesson, a parent or guardian email is required prior to the lesson. Where appropriate, students will remain meaningfully engaged through alternative activities or roles such as umpiring, coaching, or skill observation.

We value strong partnerships with families. If you have any questions about the PDHPE program, please contact your daughter’s PDHPE teacher via email or feel free to contact me directly.

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to a wonderful year!
