Year 12
It has been a wonderful start to the year for our Year 12 cohort. The energy, enthusiasm, and maturity they have brought into this first week have set a positive tone for all students. From supporting new students on Commencement Day, setting good first day vibes at the main gate and leading the singing of many favourite songs or hymns during Chapel, our cohort has been shining all week long!
As our students step into their final year, it has been heartening to see them reconnect with peers, engage thoughtfully in their lessons, and approach new responsibilities with gusto. I am thrilled to be back with the cohort and to assist them through all the joy this year will bring! I am grateful for the ongoing support of our families and carers and look forward to partnering with you all throughout this important and exciting year. I’d like to extend a warm welcome to Daniel Lomax (Sutton) and Helen Kondos (Leawarra) to our Luminary team for 2026!
At the end of the school year, over 100 students from the Year 12 cohort volunteered over at the 2025 MLC School Sony Foundation Camp. All staff were amazed by the support our students showed to their campers, engaging with them with compassion and care at every turn. Their selflessness was evident in the way they worked together, demonstrating leadership, empathy, and genuine care for others. I am confident this experience will be among some of their most treasured memories from their time at school.
Mentor Program: As our Year 12 students embark on their final year of school, we know this stage brings excitement, ambition, as well as some heightened anxiousness. As such, this week we formally commenced the Year 12 Mentor Program. This initiative is designed to provide students with an additional layer of personalised care as they navigate the academic and emotional demands of the year. Each mentor will check in with their mentee across the year at a time which works for both students and staff. I’d like to thank all our amazing MLC School staff from every corner of the School for supporting this program and reinforcing the community of care around our girls.
Permission to Drive: I was very excited to hear that over the break and even just this week some students in Year 12 passed their driving tests and received their Ps – congratulations! If your daughter now has her provisional licence, please ensure the ‘Permission for a Student to Drive to and From School’ form is completed (found on Omnia). Once completed, students can submit the form to Fiona Pow, Head of Students – Year 10 to Year 12.
Hats: Senior School students must wear an MLC School hat (visor, bucket hat, or cap) for all outdoor events or assemblies to stay sun safe.
Photos Monday 2 February 2026: it’s important students are in full School uniform for photos next week. Find out how to order and read more about this by clicking here.
