Year 11
What a great week it has been welcoming Year 11 back to school. It was a joy to see them return looking refreshed, positive, and ready to embark on the beginning of the final stage of their schooling journey.
During our Year Meeting, we spoke about the unique nature of Year 11 as a transition year. Transitions bring excitement and opportunity, but they can also feel a little daunting. The girls are clearly energised by the prospect of starting their new courses, and I can sense their enthusiasm for the challenges ahead. At the same time, it’s natural for them to feel some uncertainty – What does it look like to be a senior student? How do I use study periods effectively? How do I balance increased academic demands with co‑curricular commitments, sport, friends, and family?
I reassured them that these questions are completely normal, and that this year is as much about learning the skills of being a senior student as it is about the subjects themselves. Importantly, they are not navigating this alone. They have a fantastic team of teachers and staff who are here to guide, support and encourage them to achieve their personal best.
We also discussed what it truly means to be a senior student emphasising the importance of attendance, accountability, responsibility, respect, and perspective. These qualities will help them not only succeed academically but also grow personally.
I am very much looking forward to seeing many of you at the Parent Information Session as well as at our Parent Welcome Drinks. Building strong partnerships with families is a vital part of supporting each student, and I am excited for the year ahead as we work together to ensure every Year 11 student feels confident, supported, and set up for success.
