Chaplain’s Corner – Beginning a New Year Together

As we commence the new year, standing at the School gate welcoming our girls to school was an exhilarating experience as I witnessed the hugs, laughter, joyful expressions, and excitement…even for our new students! The energy at the start of a new academic year is truly infectious and watching the students arrive, each with their own hopes and dreams, reminds us of the privilege and responsibility we have in shaping their journey ahead.

It reminds me of the first four lines of our school song:

Here in this house where we are singing thus
Long generations will come after us;
Friends we have never known will come to share
This life of ours, wondering what we were.

These lines beautifully capture the enduring legacy of our School. We are part of a continuum, building on the foundations laid by those before us and preparing the way for those who will follow. Our actions, traditions, and spirit shape the experiences of future generations; and as we welcome new faces and continue cherished customs, we are reminded that our community is ever-growing, connected by shared values and the pursuit of excellence.

As we celebrate the 140 year anniversary in 2026, it is my prayers that we’ll embrace this new year with open hearts, mindful of our role in this ongoing story. Together, we will create memories, overcome challenges, and celebrate achievements – leaving a mark for generations yet to come.

God bless you all!
