From the Head of Senior School
What is happening in non-term time?
As the break approaches, we are proud to support our students and staff as they embark on a series of enriching tours around the world.
A summary of the events we are embarking on is below:
Round Square Conference – Dubai
We are grateful that Bridget Kovats, Acting Assistant Head Department – English and Henry Wijanto, Assistant Head of Department – Human Society and its Environment (HSIE), will lead students Meena Kanthathas (Year 10), Angelina Xu (Year 10), Georgia O’Connor (Year 11), Han Nguyen (Year 11), Olivia Pan (Year 11) and Jemima Zoud (Year 11) at The Round Square International Conference of Global Citizenship.
European Music Tour – Vienna and Prague
We wish our musicians the best of luck as they travel today to Europe for what I am sure will be a wonderfully enriching experience both culturally and musically.
VEX Robotics and Robocup Nationals
Good luck to our STEM participants with their competitions during the break. The students and teachers have been working so hard and we cannot wait to hear the results.
Study Camp – MLC School
Our Year 12 students will be launching into their holiday break with Study Camp. During these two weeks, Study Camp will provide the girls with workshops and practice examinations, enabling them to prepare for their final examination blocks.
Final Week
Yesterday we bid farewell to our Class of 2025. In the lead-up to this, Year 12 students participated in a variety of events, beginning with the Class of 2025 Celebration Assembly on Monday and the Old Girls’ Union Chocolate Recess.
On Tuesday, our Year 12 ‘Lifers’ visited the Junior School to meet with our Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten girls, followed by Communion for our Middle and Senior years. On Wednesday, Year 12 students had their final day of classes, their last Final Assembly, and a House lunch.
Finally, on Thursday, we held our Paver Ceremony in the morning, followed by the Valedictory Assembly and Service, and concluded the day with our Valedictory Dinner at Le Montage, where we danced the night away!
I was so proud to see our Year 12 girls farewelled so beautifully by the School. It was a fantastic week and a wonderful start to the term break.
Uniform reminder
As we look toward Term 4, could we please ask you to reinforce uniform expectations with your daughter. We have reminded the students of the following in relation to the Summer uniform:
- When wearing the summer uniform, students are not permitted to wear the jumper to and from school as the only outer garment. If they wish to wear a jumper, they must have their blazer over the top. The blazer is the only approved outer garment for travel to and from school at all times.
- Some students need to adjust the length of their skirts and dresses. The dress and skirt need to go to the knee. Please ensure you have attended to this before students return to School in Term 4.
- Students must have the approved sports bag or MLC School bag. No other bags (Longchamp or other back packs) are acceptable.
This is not just for walking through the gates. Students must maintain this uniform as they travel from home to School and on the way home until they are no longer in school uniform.
A reminder too about ear piercings – only one small plain gold/silver sleeper or stud is permitted to be worn in the lobe only. If students choose to add a piercing over the break, it must be removed before returning to School. Click here for the uniform pages in the Parent Information Handbook.
Wishing all of you a restful school holiday break. See you in Term 4!
