Farewell and thank you

Farewell and thank you

Lisa Filby – Director of Sport

To the families and students of MLC School,

As many of you know, my time here at MLC School has come to an end. While leaving is never easy, it is also exciting for the opportunities that lie ahead. This school and community has been my happy place for nine years. And while I’m excited about the future, I’m also deeply grateful for the past.

When I look back, I don’t just see wins on the field or trophies in the cabinet. I see the faces of the MLC School girls. I see our colourful house carnivals, I see the dedication of coaches, the unwavering support of parents, and the collective spirit that makes MLC School so special.

We’ve built something special together. We’ve created a sporting culture where every student feels valued, teamwork is paramount, and sportsmanship is celebrated. We’ve seen athletes go on to achieve incredible things, but more importantly, we’ve seen young women grow into confident, resilient, and compassionate individuals.

That, to me, is the true measure of success. It’s about the lessons learned in sport that translate into life skills. It’s about the friendships made, the challenges overcome, and the character built through sport.

I want to thank the students, past and present, who have given their all, who have shown grit and determination, and who have represented our school with pride. You are the heart and soul of our sporting program.

To the coaches, thank you for your tireless dedication, your expertise, and your commitment to nurturing not just athletes, but also good young women. You are the backbone of our teams.

To the parents, thank you for your unwavering support, your volunteer hours managing teams and getting your daughters to early morning trainings, and your belief in our program. You are our biggest cheerleaders.

And to the entire school community, thank you for creating an environment where every athlete is supported, and where we all come together to celebrate the achievements of our young sportswomen.

I will leave with many fond memories. I’ll cherish the memory of our many sports trips and competitions that were always lots of fun, and the friendly faces that come to the sports office window to say hello, or to tell us of your recent achievements. Though I will be moving on, MLC School will always have a special place in my heart.

Keep having a crack, keep trying something new and keep striving to achieve your personal best. Go MLC School!
