Year 10
It’s been a busy and meaningful Week 2 for Year 10. On Tuesday our Cadet Students helped lead a moving ANZAC service. They did a brilliant job, demonstrating their commitment and hard work while paying their respects to our past and present military service members.
Also on Tuesday, our Year 10 Peer Support Leaders ran the Year 7 Luminary session. These sessions are a wonderful opportunity for Year 10 to connect with and mentor the younger girls. While they may not always realise it, their presence and guidance play a significant role in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for our Year 7 students. It’s been encouraging to receive feedback from teachers, especially highlighting how much smoother and more confident the Peer Support Leaders were this week—clear signs of their ongoing growth as leaders.
Meanwhile, the Year 10 students who are not currently Peer Support Leaders engaged with this term’s Luminary theme of Compassion. At MLC School, we are committed to providing a holistic education, and Luminary sessions are a pivotal part of our pastoral care program. This week, students created their own “Compassion Bingo Cards” filled with acts of kindness they’d like to see more of within their year group. Their ideas were thoughtful and inspiring, ranging from sharing study notes to supporting one another’s learning, to showing appreciation for their teachers, listening to one another, and volunteering their time.
I look forward to seeing these acts of kindness come to life in the coming weeks, helping to further build a school culture rooted in empathy, support, and community spirit.
