Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge Round 2 now open

Bebras is a fun and engaging computational thinking challenge for students across all years. It is an international challenge that involves over 2.9 million students from 60 countries. We had some outstanding results in Round 1, seeing over half of our 23 participants receiving a Distinction or High Distinction.

Round 2 will be held between Tuesday 15 and Thursday 24 October 2024 and students can participate individually or in teams of up to four. Students do not need to have participated in Round 1 to compete in Round 2. If you would like to register your daughter for this free competition please complete this online form by Monday 14 October 2024.

Year 8 Talented Mathematics Day

Last Tuesday the Year 8 Mathsketeers travelled to Newington College to take part in a thrilling Talented Maths Day! The students faced an array of brain-bending challenges designed to push their problem-solving abilities to the limits. Working in pairs, they navigated puzzles of increasing complexity, sharpening their minds with each one.

A special shout-out to Yolanda Deng (Year 8) and Veronica Pan (Year 8) for being the highest-scoring MLC School team in the first activity! Their quick thinking and teamwork truly stood out.

For the second part of the day, students were paired with peers from other schools, where collaboration was key. Together they applied newly learned techniques and tackled even more intense challenges. Out of over 50 teams, Amy Doan (Year 8) and her partner Wren landed an impressive 5th place, while Yolanda Deng and her partner Rochelle stormed into 4th place.

A huge congratulations to all the Mathsketeers for their outstanding efforts and stellar achievements throughout the day!
