Year 5 Celebration of Learning

Year 5 Celebration of Learning

The Celebration of Learning was incredible. It was an amazing experience to show my friends and family how much I enjoy school and learning at MLC School.

loved the celebration of learning!

– Eshani Dilipumakanth (Year 5)

My highlight of the Celebration of Learning is when I was doing the math problems with my parents, because I enjoyed teaching them new strategiesand finding the solution with them.

Avery Satchcroft (Year 5)

The Year 5 Celebration of Learning was an amazing experience. We got to spend time with our parents and showcased all our amazing learning we have been doing in the past term. We showed our parents our natural disaster artworks, our strategies in mathematics, our Italian hospital scripts, our ‘Runt’ collages, our CLP inventions and finally, our 3D printed name tags in STEM!

A highlight that really stood out for me was seeing the shock on my parents’ face when I showed them my strategies in maths! At the Celebration of Learning, everyone had a blast! We loved showing our parents all our hard work. They were extremely impressed!

Carla Di Leo (Year 5)

On 13 September, Year 5 held their Celebration of Learning. It was a day to showcase and show our parents on what we have learned this term and what we are looking forward to. To start of the day, the Year 5 quartet played the song ‘Enchanted’ by Taylor Swift to greet the parents. The morning was filled with collaboration and lots of learning. Year 5 taught their parents about different division and multiplication strategies in Maths, in English, the girls talked about the book ‘Runt’ written by Craig Silvey. In STEM and CLP we showed our parents our amazing 3D printing skills and our Space Discovery course project. To end the day, we finished off with the subjects Italian and Library, sharing our ‘visiting the doctor’ script and showing our book trailers. The session was filled with teaching and learning, what a fun way to start our morning!

– Joyce Guan (Year 5)

Today at Year 5 Celebration of Learning, Clara Southwood, Elana Chrun, Joyce Guan, and I opened the celebration. We played Enchanted by Taylor Swift. With Clara on the cello, Elana, Joyce and I on the violin, it was a great contrast of low and high notes! It was a great opportunity too! We got to improve our playing skills and performing skills at the same time! We got to perform for our friends and families and showcase our amazing learning.

– Kathy Zhang (Year 5)

Celebration of Learning was an amazing opportunity to showcase my work with my mum. She was immensely proud of me and my work. We were so happy to see each other. While we reviewed my work we laughed together, along with my sister. I was able to show my mum my artwork and I spoke to her in Italian. I shared my ‘Runt’ collage, my CLP holograph and my 3D printed name tag. Celebration of Learning was fun, and I was so happy to showcase my work and effort.

– Jaiyanna Sayed (Year 5)

In Week 8, Year 5 had a fantastic Celebration of Learning where we discussed the themes from the book ‘Runt’ that we read in class. We shared how these themes helped us better understand the characters and the story. We also presented our PowerPoint on the NSW Space Discovery program, showing the discoveries about life on the International Space Station. In addition, we created our own custom name tags using the Makers Empire app, in STEM. This Celebration of Learning provided a wonderful opportunity for us to share with our parents everything we have learned so far in Term 3.
