Year 11

Year 11

Our image this week is of a fairly traditional scene in education – HSC students about to begin the Modern History examination in Potts Hall. MLC School students have been sitting exams since 1886 and in Potts Hall since the 1930s. However, the style of assessment in Senior School has changed in many ways and examinations are now just one aspect of a Year 11 student’s assessment schedule. Leading to this point, girls have completed major works, practical exams, music and drama performances, experiments, oral presentations and scenarios across many key learning areas and two senior programs. Year 11 have done a wonderful job in settling down to the task, getting organised in the exam spaces and working with the invigilators. They have been supporting each other after the exams and working on site in the pods in study groups and by themselves to get the work done.

During the change of season, Health Centre has reported lots of students checking in with coughs, colds and flu. If your daughter is sick for an exam, please contact the Studies Office via email studiesoffice@mlcsyd.nsw.edu.au or 61 2 8741 3144 and submit an Illness and Misadventure form via the new parent portal, Omnia  and attach a Medical Certificate from the same day. Please click here for step by step guide.

If you have specific questions on the process, please direct them to Priscilla Quintana by email here for IB and Elisa Scala by email here for the HSC programme. The relevant Heads of Faculty will be contacted from that point.

For wellbeing concerns during the exam period and during term time, please contact myself on 02 8741 9736 or sconnolly1@mlcsyd.nsw.edu.au
