Year 12
A highlight of the term for me was the Stay and Play that we had on Friday 23 August after school. It was fantastic to see many of the cohort blowing off steam with some competitive teacher/student dodgeball, cornhole and giant Jenga. After games we headed inside and whilst Emily Osborne (teacher, Head of Booralee) mastered the popcorn machine the students settled in for a viewing of High School Musical 3. A huge thank you to all the staff who supported this as without them giving up their Friday night it would not have been possible.
This week (Week 6) has seen more examination results returned and I know that many students are meeting with teachers to gain more feedback and establish what next. We reflected on this in Luminary time, looking for common threads in feedback. Year 12 also had an Academic Care session with Joanna Graffen (Head of Senior School) about dealing with success and failure as she shared with them some valuable life lessons.
On Wednesday we celebrated Wear It Purple day, an important date in our calendar to recognise the diversity and inclusivity in our community. Well done to Sarah Furlan (Community and Round Square Captain) for leading events during the day. We rounded out the week with a gratitude activity celebrating what we value in each other. As ever, Year 12 approached this with generosity and warmth.
Even though we are hurtling towards the end of term and Graduation celebrations we still have much to enjoy in the next few weeks. Next week we have the Athletics House Carnival and House Debating challenge followed by the annual Dance Showcase at the weekend. I look forward to seeing full Year 12 participation as we enjoy our last few weeks together.
