Year 10
During Luminary this week Year 10 had study sessions to allow themselves some time to complete and prepare for the many assessments they have over this week and next. The students were allowed this opportunity based on feedback they had provided regarding Luminary time this term.
As mentioned in my newsletter piece on Friday 16 August, Andrew Taylor, Deputy Head of Senior School – Pastoral presented to the cohort on Wednesday 28 August as a follow up to the session from Marianna Carlino, (Director of eLearning) on Deepfakes. The cohort had some opportunity to provide some feedback and questions based on Marianna’s presentation which Andrew acknowledged and drew upon. Please click here for the newsletter piece. This important and immerging issue for young women in particular should be a community and social priority for us all to consciously be on top of.
We try to allow the students greater input into what is presented to them and also how they spend Luminary time and how their Year meetings are run. Another way to do this is through Luminary Representatives. Two weeks ago I shared the 16 Luminary Representatives from eight of our houses. I now congratulate our remaining four for our first round.

I appreciate these students putting themselves forward and being nominated from their Luminary groups to be the first Luminary Representatives and being prepared to lead their peers.
Yesterday I had the great pleasure of attending a TEDx Youth Event, accompanied by Bridget Kovats, (Head of Year 7), and the following students from Year 10, along with some Year 9 students:
- Julia Choi
- Anna Obaid
- Amelia Tchan
- Ze Wong
- Leylim Ozer
- Laila Chopra
- Carina Savoca
The students appreciated the opportunity to engage in the event and engage in current youth issues.
Please reach out if you are concerned about your daughter at all. I can be contacted via email arenwick@mlcsyd.nsw.edu.au or my direct line 8741 3278.
