Important Information for Year 11 HSC and IB Students: Examination Protocols

As the Year 11 HSC and IB examinations continue, it is crucial for all students to be well-prepared and informed about the protocols to ensure a smooth and successful examination period. Examinations commenced on Monday 26 August 2024 and run until Thursday 5 September. Below are the key guidelines and rules that all students must adhere to:

Absences and Illness

If a student is ill on the day of an examination, they must submit an Illness and Misadventure form via the new parent portal, Omnia  and attach a Medical Certificate from the same day. Please click here for step by step guide.

This process exists for students who were unable to attempt a task or complete a task while experiencing illness or misadventure.

The Deputy Head of Senior School – Academics determines whether an Illness and Misadventure appeal application is valid. The Head of Department is then notified of this determination. The School will assess the student’s situation on a case-by-case basis, and their examination will be rescheduled with the new date communicated via email.

Prior to the Examination

  • If a student is running late. Notify the school at 97471266 and report to Elisa Scala (HSC) or Priscilla Quintana (IB) upon arrival at SC209.
  • If a student is feeling unwell before the examination, please ask them to go to the Health Centre immediately and do not sit the examination. They will need a medical certificate specifying their illness on the day of the examination.

The student should arrive at school 30 minutes before the examination and be at the examination room 15 minutes before the start time. It is important that they are in full school uniform and bring only clear drink bottles and stationery in a clear plastic bag. Mobile phones, smartwatches and any other technology are not permitted in the examination room. Only blue or black ink pens are allowed; gel pens or erasable pens are not acceptable. If the student feels unwell during the examination, they should notify the supervisor immediately, as the supervisor will document their condition for any possible illness or misadventure appeal.

We commend our Year 11 students for their hard work and dedication throughout this examination period and wish them the best of luck in their final assessments.
