Operation Art 2023 Exhibition

Operation Art 2023 Exhibition

Each year, schools across New South Wales are invited to participate in Operation Art, an initiative of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in association with the New South Wales Department of Education. The Operation Art program provides a forum for schools and students to demonstrate their Visual Arts achievements through exhibitions at the Armory Gallery, Sydney Olympic Park and the Art Gallery of New South Wales.

Up to 10.000 visitors will view the exhibition, which comprises of over 700 works of art. Some of these artworks will become part of the permanent collection of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. The display of cheerful and uplifting artworks in the hospital has positive health benefits for children and their families during hospitalisation. It certainly is a worthwhile initiative.

This year, four of our MLC School artists are showcasing their artwork. Congratulations to:

  • Tarlay Edwards (Year 2)
  • Nina Bai (Year 3)
  • Beatrice Bastin-Loy (Year 3)
  • Elana Chrun (Year 4)

You can see their artworks and artist statements below.

A special congratulations to Tarlay Edwards who was selected to receive a Paw Pick award. This award category is given to artworks which demonstrate a wide variety of teaching and artmaking strategies

The Operation Art exhibition will be on display at the Armory Gallery every weekend, from 16 September to 29 October 2023. It is open from 10am to 4pm and entry is free.
