Year 8

Year 8

This week in Year 8, we had a special Year Meeting where Sarah Jauncey came to speak about the upcoming Year 8 Adventure Camp. From Monday 30 October to Thursday 2 November 2023, students will be travelling to Murramarang National Park and surrounding areas for four days and three nights of tent/cabin sleeping, surfing, bushwalking, fishing and other fabulous outdoor activities. Information about the camp should be sent home next week and it will detail items required for the camp. This camp is quite different to the Immersion Experience and with the weather we have been having (yay, sun!), it looks like it’s going to be a wonderful four days outdoors.

The next couple of weeks are quite assessment filled for Year 8, so please check in on your daughter, how is she preparing and coping with the workload? The students are welcome to attend subject lunchtime clinics and seek additional support from their teachers if they are unsure about what is expected of them.

If you are concerned about how your daughter is managing her time, please reach out to her Luminary. Luminaries can help to work with your daughter on study strategies and planning for tasks. It might also be a good time to reflect on the Prue Salter educational/study skills seminar attended by your daughter and a parent in Year 7. The online Study Skills Handbook, which you have access to (click here), has many useful tools that can be revisited throughout high school.

Have a great weekend, and as always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
