Year 10

Week 5 marks the rollover of the academic year and Year 9 have now moved into their Year 10 program. It is my great pleasure to welcome you all into the Year 10 community. A special welcome goes to our new students also. The new students were officially welcomed in our Year meeting this week. The Luminary team and I are really looking forward to working with you in the Senior Years. Last, but by no means least, a big thank you goes to the Head of Year 9, Kylie Bickerstaff and her Luminary team for the solid foundations and excellent pastoral work done with this cohort from Year 7 to Year 9. Her support and care in the transition of Year 9 to Year 10 has been invaluable.

The academic prizes for 2022 were announced this week and we celebrated the success of those students who have achieved outstanding academic excellence. Special awards have also been given to nominees who displayed consistent growth and development in their studies this year. I’ve been spending the week getting to know everyone and what really impressed me about this assembly was how genuinely happy the year group was to celebrate the success of these students and ‘claim’ it as a group effort.

It has been a busy week with new classes, teachers and timetables. The girls have done a great job so far in the adjustment to the new routine but please let us know if your daughter is struggling with the management of the transition this term and needs some further support.

A dedicated team of Year 10 volunteers stepped up to lead tour groups, answering questions from prospective parents and students and leading them around the campus. Feedback from the parents on the day was how impressed they were with Year 10 in their communication, confidence and sense of commitment to MLC School. This opportunity comes around regularly and I encourage every student to participate in their Senior Years, as what they have to say and present is so valuable. You are also fed some great food from the café as a thank you!
