School Recommendation Scheme – Year 12 2022 Take Note!

School Recommendation Scheme – Year 12 2022 Take Note!

47 students have applied to Schools Recommendation Scheme. We are aware that you are being bombarded with emails from universities about SRS, reordering your preferences, etc. Below is some information to help understand the process. Remember there are three SRS rounds.

SRS Offers In A Nutshell

  • First SRS offers will be made today, Friday 11 November 2022
  • Institutions have the option to make further unconditional offers in November, Round 2.
December Round 1 and December Round 2:
  • If you receive an unconditional offer, accept it.
  • If you want to receive another offer in subsequent rounds, move the course you have accepted to the bottom of your list or remove it entirely.
  • If you receive a conditional offer, you still need to:
    • Meet the criteria stipulated in the offer
    • Meet all other institution requirements for that course
    • Include the course in your list of preferences by midnight on Friday 16 December 2022

Make sure the course that you would most like to do is at the top of your list.

SRS Offers

  • You can receive one unconditional offer and one or more conditional offers.
  • If you receive an unconditional offer you do not need to meet any further condition/s.
  • If you receive conditional offers, you’ll need to meet additional condition/s, such as a minimum ATAR, submitting a portfolio or attending an audition. Details will be outlined in the offer letter.
  • Institutions consider your course preferences according to the order in which you list them. All your preferences are given equal consideration.
  • While UAC coordinates SRS, the institutions decide who receives an offer, not UAC. We won’t contact you if you don’t receive an SRS offer.

Unconditional SRS Offers

  • You can only receive one unconditional offer in each round.
  • If you’re not selected for an unconditional offer for your first preference, you’ll be considered equally with all other eligible applicants for your second preference and so on.
Notification
  • Your unconditional offer will be sent to you by email. You can also access it by logging in to your UAC application for undergraduate admission and selecting ‘View correspondence’.
  • To accept your unconditional offer, follow the instructions set out in your offer. You must accept your offer by the date specified by the institution, otherwise you may lose your offer.

Conditional SRS Offers

  • Conditional SRS offers require you to meet other condition/s before the institution will make you an unconditional offer. These condition/s may include a minimum ATAR, course prerequisites, a personal statement, a portfolio, an audition, an interview or a test.
  • Conditional SRS offers will only be made in November Round 1 and can be made to any preference.
Notification
  • Your conditional offer will be sent to you by email. You can also access it by logging in to your UAC application for undergraduate admission and selecting ‘View correspondence’.
  • To convert your conditional offer to an unconditional offer, you must:
    • Meet the condition/s stipulated in the offer
    • Meet all other institution requirements for that course
    • Include the course in your list of preferences by midnight Friday 16 December 2022

(closing date of change of preference for December Round 2)

  • It is possible to receive more than one conditional offer, but only one of them can become an unconditional offer in December Round 2.
  • If you receive more than one conditional offer, once your ATAR is released you can determine if you meet the criteria for those offers. You will then need to decide which course preference you would most like to convert into an unconditional offer.
  • Place the course that you would most like to convert into an unconditional offer at the top of your list of preferences by midnight Friday 16 December 2022. By this date you will have received your ATAR, so if a minimum ATAR is one of the conditions you will know if you have met it.

Receiving Further Offers

  • Once you’ve received an unconditional offer, you can’t be made an unconditional offer to any lower course preferences in the next round unless you change your preferences.
  • So, to receive further offers in subsequent rounds, you first need to accept the course you’ve already been offered, then move that course down to the bottom of your list of course preferences or remove it entirely. (As long as you have accepted an offer, removing it from your list of preferences will not affect your existing offer.)
  • Alternatively, if you receive an unconditional offer to a lower preference, you will automatically be considered for higher preferences in the next round.
  • To change your preferences, log in to your UAC application and go to ‘Update course preferences’.
  • If you then receive an offer to a course in your new list, you can decide whether to accept it and withdraw from your original course, or not accept the new offer and keep your place in your original course.

November Round 1 SRS Offers

  • On Friday 11 November 2022 you can receive either an unconditional offer or a conditional offer.
  • If you receive an unconditional offer, congratulations! Go ahead and accept it. If you want to stay in the running for another offer in subsequent rounds, move the course you’ve been offered down to the bottom of your list of course preferences or remove it entirely. (As long as you have accepted the offer, you can’t lose it.)
  • If you receive a conditional offer, you still need to meet additional criteria before the institution will make you an unconditional offer in December Round 2 (on Thursday 22 December 2022) or January Round 1 (Thursday 12 January 2023). The institution will tell you what these are in the conditional offer email you receive on Friday 11 November 2022
  • You might receive more than one conditional offer on Friday 11 November 2022, but only one of them can become an unconditional offer in December Round 2.
  • In this offer round, like in all rounds, you’ll receive an offer to the course that is highest in your list of preferences and for which you are eligible and competitive enough. So make sure you have the course you most want to study at the top of your list of preferences, even if you haven’t received a conditional offer to it.
