Year 10 Archdale Team Wins by Unanimous Decision
This year MLC School had five teams compete in the Archdale quarter finals, two teams compete in the semi-finals and the Year 10 team of Tina, Jade, Doris, Sanya, and Sarah Pearson (Year 10) progress to the Grand Final, which they won by unanimous decision.
A special thanks to the Year 10 students who had to come to school during the holidays, in their school uniform, to compete. We were a lonely bunch all by ourselves in the Senior Centre at night but the girls were determined to beat Meriden. Luckily, we got our choice of topic in the topic selection and the negative side the girls wanted in the coin toss. All the team had to do was power through the actual debate and convince the three adjudicators it was a bad idea, “That children should be forced to look after their parents in old age”. The team was awesome and were given the win in an unanimous judge’s decision. The screams of joy echoed through the empty building.
Congratulations girls on a job well-done through a very different year of debating.
