SRC Toy Drive brings Joy to Those in Need

Congratulations to the SRC for a successful Christmas Toy Drive and thank you to the community for donating so many wonderful toys.

The toys were delivered to Wesley Mission during the last week of School to be given to children and families in homeless shelters. We were overwhelmed to receive the following message from Wesley Mission thanking the MLC School community.

I am writing to thank you and your school community for providing gifts, hampers and hope to our community this year. I cannot tell you the excitement my staff had that they were able to personally deliver your beautiful and thoughtful gifts to people in need. Some families who received your gifts have commented with the following; Boy, 8, “I have never seen a Lego set like this before!”, Mum, “It is so nice to think that people are caring about me and my family, please tell the school they have brought life and joy to me and my family”.

Some of our families are living in refuges, unstable housing and many suffering with job loss due to COVID. These gifts and hampers go a very long way to help families feel connected and cared for. On a personal note, my staff were crying when we were allocating the gifts for the families as we know just how much of a helping hand this will be for our clients. We work alongside our families for at least a year so we intimately know just have frightening and lonely this year has been and to be able to partner with your school in delivering so many generous gifts to our community has brought us hope.

I especially wish to thank Gloria who has always been so quick, professional and warm in her responses with me and John, who has also been so generous with his time. From us to you and your community, thank you for your time and your generosity. We are so very grateful to have witnessed your school spirit.

Warmly,
Amy Clark
