Principal’s Report

Dear Fortians, Parents and Carers,

Congratulations to Joshi for winning the Kennedy cup! The students from Joshi will be invited to a special rewards day on December 15.

The NSW Advocate for Children and Young People, Zoë Robinson, has invited four Year 10 students from Fort Street to attend the annual Voices of Change event. This year the event will be held on Wednesday, 23 of November from 8am – 9:30am at Botanic House, 1 Mrs Macquarie Road, Sydney 2000. Guests will hear from a panel of incredible young people who are using their voice and lived experiences to shape positive change for children and young people.The theme for this year’s event is ‘Getting it Done.’

Congratulations to Lucie Atkin-Bolton, Gordan Yuan, Chloe Zheng and Vivian Shao who have displayed initiative, courage and leadership in creating positive change for their peers and will attend this event on behalf of Fort Street.

Even though we are very quickly heading towards the end of Term 4 and indeed the school year, there are plenty of exciting events happening at the Fort. Make sure you add these dates to your diaires.

November 20 – 21 – our Silver Duke of Ed students will be out completing their qualifying hike.

November 23 – The SRC have some great events coming up starting with a screening of the World Cup game between Australia and France followed by a breakfast.

November 29 – we are excited to welcome our 2023 Year 7 students to the school for their orientation day.

November 30 – M.A.D night will be a wonderful opportunity for parents to see students shine in all things Music, Art and Drama.

December 1 – Year 8 will take part in the Slum Survivor/Vinnies Sleepout program.

December 8 – Year 10 will go to Alfred Park for their picnic day, including a scavenger hunt and BBQ.

December 12 – Year 7 will enjoy a picnic day at Centennial Park, including a scavenger hunt and other games.

Dec 14 – Year 9 History Dance.

Dec 15  – SRC are hosting and End of Year party open to all year groups to raise school spirit and promote a lively culture to celebrate the end of a wonderful school year.

Dec 16 – The last day of term and a fun annual event held by the SRC, the Talent Quest.
