Student Achievement – Addison Heatley
Addison, currently in Year 12, is an avid sailor sailing a ILCA-4 (Laser 4.7); and after gaining a top 5 position in the National Championships earlier this year, she has qualified to compete in the 2024 ILCA Youth World Championships to be held in Viana do Castelo (Portugal)! She will be part of the Australian Team and one of 140 girls selected from around the world who will compete at this regatta.
Addison is also one of our Outdoor Education Students who excels in her course. She says she has a passion for being outdoors and really enjoys the beauty of being out on the water (along with the thrill of competition!). Addison’s “home club” is the Mandurah Offshore Fishing and Sailing Club, and at her “City” club, the Royal Perth Yacht Club she is able to train, compete, and hold the position of JR. Dinghy Captain.
Addison has also been successful in receiving a scholarship with P.R.A.S. (Peel Regional Academy of Sports) where she will receive support with services such as strength and conditioning coaching and plan, gym membership, nutritional plans and education, as well as access to talent development workshops and coaching support.
Congratulations Addison – we pray for a wonderful and successful experience in Portugal!
